Connect Cursor so your coding agents run as Cursor cloud agents on your own Cursor plan. You start and follow a session from Macro; the work runs in Cursor Cloud and streams into the session in Macro.
Your Cursor plan must include cloud agents, and a Cursor account admin must connect source control for your Cursor account.

Connect Cursor

1

Create an API key in Cursor

In the Cursor dashboard, open API & SSH Keys and click New API Key.
2

Paste it into Macro

Open Settings → General → Agents → Runtimes, choose Cursor, and paste the key. Macro stores it encrypted and only uses it to start and follow your Cursor sessions.
3

Choose a default model

New Cursor agents start with this model. You can change it per agent.
To remove the connection, click Disconnect on the same page. This deletes Macro’s copy of the key; revoke the key in the Cursor dashboard if you no longer need it.

Run a Cursor agent

In Settings → General → Agents, create an agent (or edit one) and set where it runs to In Cursor. Then:
  • In Agents, switch to Code, pick the agent, choose a repository and branch, and send your prompt.
  • In a channel, @mention the agent. The session opens in the thread, and later mentions in that thread go to the same session.
A session needs access to its repository on both sides. Macro lists the repositories your GitHub connection covers, and Cursor needs source control connected for that repository too. Connecting one does not connect the other, so a repository missing from either side fails to start. Each session works like any other coding session in Macro: you see its progress, tool calls, and linked pull request, and you can send follow-ups or stop it.

See Macro’s sessions in Cursor

A session Macro starts is a regular cloud agent on your Cursor account, so you can open it from Cursor Web or the Cursor agents window. Follow-ups you send there show up in the Macro session too. Cursor hides agents started through its API from the agent list by default, and that includes every session Macro starts. To list them without opening each one from Macro:
1

Open your agent list in Cursor

Go to cursor.com/agents, or open the agents window in Cursor.
2

Filter by source

Click Filter, then Source, and select API. Choosing a source overrides Cursor’s default, so the sessions Macro started appear in the list.
Macro starts sessions with your own API key, so they appear under My agents.
