Is this a Word or Acrobat add in?
No, it is a standalone Desktop app for Windows and Mac. It is completely compliant with the docx
and pdf
specification so it is interoperable with Acrobat and Word. For example, if a user makes a highlight in Macro and then sends it to a colleague who opens it in Acrobat, the same comments and highlights and all the rest will be the same.
When saving a document does it edit the original document or does it save as a different document?
There is save-as and save functionality just like Word or Acrobat.
Do people need the Macro application to see my comments, pins, and highlights?
Highlights, comments, and bookmarks are fully compatible with the pdf
specification. Recipients of your documents do not need to have Macro in order to view these. Defined term "pins" have no corresponding concept in PDF and thus are currently ephemeral.
How do I 'share' documents I make or review with Macro?
Macro does not have its own cloud or "sharing" system. Document opened or authored in the program can be shared as pdf
or docx
via email, DMS, etc.
Does Macro have its own file format or platform?
Macro does not have its own file format: it works with PDF or DOCX.
The clickable definitions and sections and so forth... is that all automatic or do you need to manually annotate that?
Macro's parser automatically creates clickable cross-references and popups without human input. The extracted clauses, sections, exhibits, etc., can be edited by the user after automatic generation by right clicking the table of contents and using the delete, rename, or move functionality.
I did not get the sign in email with the activation code.
The code went to their spam box. Solution: whitelist all macro.com
emails in firewall and email settings.
- The user entered their email correctly. Solution: instruct the user to please try again; if you would like to verify that this is the cause, support@macro.com can check our logs to see if the email was entered incorrectly.
- Enterprise email quarantine system is taking too long (e.g. 2-4 minutes) and the user did not yet get the code. Solution: wait 2 minutes; disable quarantine for
macro.com
emails.
Macro did not pick up X section or Y definition in my document.
There are a few reasons this may happen:
- The section or term in question was never created. For example, references to
Section 7
will not link properly if there is noSection 7
in scope (e.g. in the document or package of documents that the user has open). Solution: this is intended behavior; in the "Errors" panel on the left hand side of the screen, the reader can see all undefined sections, terms, clauses, exhibits, etc. - The parser is not 100% accurate and may have missed something. Solution: use the highlight-pin functionality to pin the missing definition, or the bookmarking functionality to add a bookmark.
